Seeing and Being Seen investigates the potential that portraiture holds as a method of remembrance, empowerment, and reflection. It is a collection of works that explore the human urge to create and document themselves and those around them — recording our existence on pottery, in marble, on canvas, and on phones. The portrait is not as restricted as it was centuries ago – it is accessible to many more people and can extend beyond literal representations. Contemporary portraiture invites us to reexamine the intent of the artist and its relationship to the people being presented.

The Irvine Fine Arts Center is pleased to present the Wall Painting 2013, the third in a series of exhibitions that premiered at the Irvine Fine Arts Center (IFAC) over a decade ago. During several weeks before the opening of the show, artists will create murals on the walls of the IFAC. Patrons are encouraged to watch these artists at their creative best. Artists will also be available to answer questions during this time.

The artists are Michael Arata, Joshua Aster, Claire Baker, Barbara Berk, Kristin Calabrese, Jamison Carter, Judy Csotsits, David DiMichele, Carlson Hatton, Andy Kolar, Flora Kao, Mara Lonner, Siobhan McClure, Adam Novak and Katie Ryan.

The current show, hosted byPATRAJDAS Contemporary, features painting, photography and sculpture from across the US., with a special focus on visceral paintings by Rogelio Manzo, of Sacramento, CA and a photographic study of texture and color by Amelju, of Ogden, and drawings by Judy Csotsits.
